Effective 27 October 2026
Steady As is made and sold by Xander van Baarsen, in the Netherlands ("we" on this page). Write to hello@steadyas.app.
Steady As is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple's Standard License Agreement governs your use of the app. These terms add to it, and where the two differ, Apple's agreement applies.
Steady As shows course, speed and the bearing home from the GPS in your Apple Watch or iPhone. GPS can be wrong, late or missing. Steady As is not a navigation system and is not certified for navigation or safety. Keep a proper lookout, carry the charts and equipment your boat needs, and follow the rules of the road. You stay responsible for your boat and the people aboard.
Mark saves the boat's position at the moment you press it and points back to it. It does not call for help or contact anyone, and it is not a safety or rescue device.
Hold course and the speed alert help you keep an eye on your course and speed. The alert speed is one you pick yourself, not a legal limit. Local speed limits and rules are yours to know; Steady As gives no legal advice.
The Almanac and the local rules are a summary for reference, in our own words. The rulebook pages carry the full text from each source; the version at the source is the one that counts. Official publications and local notices always come first.
Steady As is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Payment and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.
Everything on steadyas.app is free to read. The press kit may be used in coverage of Steady As. The launch-notify form is covered in the privacy policy.
We provide Steady As as it is. As far as the law allows, Xander van Baarsen is not liable for loss or damage that comes from using it or relying on it, including at sea. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Dutch law applies to these terms, without affecting the consumer protections of the country you live in.
If these terms change, we update this page and the date above.
